Penia is a fraction of the municipality of Canazei, in Val di Fassa, on the course of the Avisio stream.
Located at a height of 1555 m above sea level, the small town of Penia, with a parish church, is directly connected to the hamlet of Alba di Canazei and, consequently, to its ski resorts. This means that the village is a well-known holiday resort both in winter and in the summer, thanks to the presence of numerous trails that start from the center to reach the Marmolada, Monzoni and Sella group.
Penia is an official stopover place along the famous Via Alpina, a path that runs from east to west across the mountain range of the Alps.
