Set in a beautiful valley near the coastline in Carbis Bay, Cornwall is Glenside House, a fabulous, four-bedroom home enjoying sea views. Home to a glorious garden, and a path leading to the South West Coast Path, Carbis Bay Beach and the St Ives scenic railway, Glenside House is well-positioned for a family or group getaway, inviting up to eight guests. With spacious living areas and a seaward facing private garden, this family home has given the owners children hours of pleasure, which they now want to share with their family. The living area is made up of an open-plan space which also extends out to a contemporary conservatory and a study, flooded with natural light and featuring exposed Cornish stone walls, oozing character; with a woodburning stove on offer, cosy up on either of the two large sofas and enjoy the entertainment on the curved 4K television, with Netflix or read a book in one of the comfy chairs in the conservatory with its fabulous rear garden views. The study rests off the sitting area and enjoys stunning sea views, take a seat at the authentic writer’s desk, and let the wonderful Cornish vista inspire you as you write your postcards. The kitchen and dining area offers a large space for the whole family to get together for meals, exposed stone walls, a classic old school writing desk and a traditional Olympia typewriter, give the space a charming character; a large oak dining table with matching chairs, comfortably seating eight, with the option to extend to seat 12, is ideal for entertaining and along with a wine rack and mini fridge, to chill your drinks to just the right temperature.
There is a choice of four beautifully appointed bedrooms, all located on the first floor. The seaward-facing king-size room features a hidden en-suite with a shower, accessible through the wardrobe - a delightful surprise that will transport children (and perhaps adults) straight into their own Narnia adventure. The second double bedroom enjoys charming garden views through its elegant bay window, while the two twin rooms open onto a shared rear sun terrace, the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast bathed in the Cornish morning light. One of the twin bedrooms is a tucked-away just off the kitchen, offering a private retreat for those seeking a little extra seclusion. This unique space is accessed via a steep staircase, adding character to the home while providing a cozy escape. Due to the nature of the stairs, this room may not be suitable for guests with mobility concerns, but it remains a peaceful hideaway away from the rest of the house. Two family bathrooms are conveniently positioned next to the main bedrooms, along with an additional cloakroom for extra convenience. The glorious seaward facing enclosed garden is a fabulous space to enjoy and let the children play, laid to lawn with subtropical plants and a heated breeze house, all with breath-taking sea views, it’s an oasis by the sea, a raised decked area, with a set of garden furniture with parasol and a barbecue, provides the perfect setting to dine alfresco watching the ocean. The footpath from your private garden leads onto the South West Coast Path, which heads towards Hayle Estuary and St Ives in the other direction, this cliffside walk has wonderful landscapes to enjoy, rare wildflowers, migratory birds or even dolphins playing in the surf, could be spotted. During your stay, be sure to embark on a walk along the waymarked long-distance footpath of St Michaels Way, an iconic trail likely traversed by early Christian pilgrims that runs all the way from Lelant to St Michael's Mount, before you spend a day on the lush sands of Carbis Bay Beach, which has achieved Blue Flag status, for its crystal-clear waters which lap onto its golden sand, fabulous for walks along the shoreline and water sports. St Ives is a hub for local artists and a hot spot for tourists, this traditional Cornish fishing village arcs around a working harbour, which supplies its many restaurants with fresh seafood, treat yourself to a delicious meal before exploring the towns cobbled streets, filled with boutiques, cafes and art galleries; the largest is The Tate and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, which celebrates one of the town’s former famous residents. After browsing and enjoying the sandy beaches which surround St Ives, hop on the scenic railway for a relaxing but breath-taking journey back to Carbis Bay, it hugs the coastline with sea views all the way. Glenside House has provided many groups with wonderful memories to cherish forever, its magical setting, private landscaped garden, and stunning sea views, are waiting to do the same for yours.
